Welcome to Day 1 of Vacation Planner for Kauai

Day One: Island-wide

Take an exciting boat trip down the incredibly scenic Na Pali Coast.

From the Westside, depart year-round or from the Northshore, depart during the calmer ocean months of May-Oct. Morning boat tours take about 5 hours. Afternoon or sunset tours are 3-4 hours. See Adventure Romance & Magazine, Na Pali Coast Boating.

Dine for lunch at a local restaurant. From a Westside boat departure, visit the Kaua‘i Coffee Estate. Visit Koke‘e State Park and Museum.

From a Northshore boat departure, visit Princeville Botanical Gardens and Chocolate Tours and check out Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens.

Afternoon Snorkel adventure at local beaches, surf conditions permitting. Go for a hike, depending on the weather.

Welcome to Day 2 of Vacation Planner for Kauai

Day Two: Northshore

Drive and sightsee around the beautiful North Shore.
Please obtain a parking permit for Ha’ena and Ke’e Beach to park and to have access to do any Na Pali hiking. Snorkel at Tunnels Beach, depending on weather and ocean conditions. Visit the dry caves near Ha‘ena State Park. Hike part of the Na Pali Coast trail to Hanakapia‘i Beach. Return to view the sunset at Ke‘e Beach or Tunnels. Visit Limahuli Gardens and take a cool dip in the Limahuli stream that passes under road. Snorkel or swim at the end of the road, beautiful Ke‘e Beach.

Hike the Na Pali Coast Trail for scenic views, or 2-miles in to exotic Hanakapiai Valley.

Dine for lunch at local Hanalei, Princeville, or Kilauea restaurant options.

Take a surfing lesson at Hanalei Bay. Rent a SUP board or Kayak for a paddle up the picturesque Hanalei River. Walk the soft sands or swim in crescent shaped of Hanalei Bay. Jump in the water from Hanalei Pier or picnic at the adjacent riverside park. Ocean and weather conditions permitting.

Golf at two world–class Princeville courses. Shop at Princeville center, Hanalei Town or in Kilauea.

Visit Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge Lighthouse, for scenic views and amazing bird life. Whale watch form there, Nov-Apr.

In Kilauea, play mini-golf at the Anaina Hou Mini-Golf and Skate Park, also they offer a hiking adventure. Next door, you will find Garden Island Chocolate Farm with samples, tours and great food.

The Northshore offers a wide variety of evening dining experiences from Hanalei, Princeville to Kilauea.

Welcome to Day 3 of Vacation Planner for Kauai

Day Three: The Eastside, Lihue & Central Kauai

Take a kayak and hiking adventure tour on the Wailua River to a scenic and secluded waterfall. Waterski boats available for skiing or far wakeboarding the only navigable river in Hawaii. SUP board rentals are also available for the Wailua River. See Adventure & Romance Magazine, Adventures on Kayak. Rain and river conditions permitting.

Bike or walk the beautiful Eastside Bike Path in Kapa‘a. Visit Donkey’s Beach and Kealia Beach, both on the north-end of the Bike Path.

Hike to the top of the Sleeping Giant in Wailua. Lunch in Kapa‘a and Wailua, Kilohana or in Lihue restaurants.

Sport fishing or take a sail tour out of Nawiliwili Harbor, Lihue. Have blast with Outfitters Kauai offering many fun adventures to choose from or take in incredible adventure with Kipu Kai ATV tours.

Golf the world-class Ocean Course at Hokuala in Lihue.

Enjoy dinner at a restaurant in Kapa‘a, Wailua, Lihue or Kilohana. Don’t forget to catch a sunrise or a full moon rise over the ocean from an eastside beach.

Smith’s Tropical Paradise offers an Polynesian storytelling luau in Wailua.

Experience Gaylord’s Restaurant or the Kamakila Luau, both located at Kilohana in Lihue. Kilohana also offers an authentic diesel-powered train ride on the Plantation Railway.

Welcome to Day 4 of Vacation Planner for Kauai

Day Four: The Southside
Go on an exciting Zipline trip with Koloa Zipline, or take an ATV adventure with Kauai ATV. Have fun bass fishing, kayaking or SUP’ing at Waita reservoir in Koloa. Enjoy shoreline horseback riding at CJM Stables in Po‘ipu. Golf at Po‘ipu’s two excellent courses. Go for a tour at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens, Allerton Garden site.

In Po‘ipu or Koloa Town, and dine at a great restaurant, shop, and visit local art galleries. Visit the Spouting Horn blow hole. Visit Maha‘ulepu Beach and hike its coastal trail, starting on the shoreline past the Hyatt Resort.

Beach it at Brennecke’s or Po‘ipu Beach Park, for snorkeling, bodyboarding, or surfing, it is the perfect place to catch the sunset. Take a surf, scuba, or snuba lesson in Po‘ipu.

Welcome to Day 5 of Vacation Planner for Kauai

Day Five: The Westside
Drive to Kokee and hike the amazing trails at Koke‘e, Waimea Canyon or Alakai Swamp. Weather permitting.

Bus and biking tours may be available from Eastside and Southshore areas. Visit the Koke‘e Museum, camp-out with a camping permit or rent a cabin in Koke‘e.

Swim and snorkel Salt Pond Beach Park in Hanapepe.

Go on a beach adventure in Kekaha or Polihale State Park or camp at Polihale, with a camping permit.

Sport fishing tours depart from Port Allen Harbor and Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor, Kekaha. Lunch at Hanapepe Town, Koke‘e, or Waimea. Shop at local art galleries. Friday night is art walk night in Old Hanapepe Town. Walk across the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge.

Enjoy a Na Pali Boat trips, Na Pali Coast Sunset cruise departing from the Port Allen, Eleele and Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor, Kekaha. The Westside has the best beaches to catch a sunset. Watch for the Green Flash as the sun goes under the horizon.
